a cloth airplane, aloft!
Inspiration hits with a flash, stories written on the go. A rumble of laughter and the tale is heard only in echoes. The wind blows me in a new direction. Whom shall I visit next?
A flight of fancy.
I was walking listlessly one day and passed someone's private boat in their driveway. The boat was covered by a tarpaulin, light blue. I've seen cars, motorbikes, and even buildings covered with cloth, too, at times. For their protection, I would assume...but I like to think that these are items made of cloth instead of concrete, metal, or plastic.
Perhaps denim airplanes exist as well, and when not being flown they could be hung on a hanger in a hangar after having been mangled and spun dry and given a good airing. I'm sure it must be good for such a flying machine to get a good airing, although it must be done by humans because to air is human.
Anyhow, the title phrase here is one that simply came to me as a blog title elsewhere, but I wonder, if starch were applied and the cloth were sufficiently light and also maybe supported by wires as a framework, a paper airplane sort of doofliggy could be fashioned out of cloth and actually fly. Probably so. kites made of synthetics work sometimes.

I believe in cloth air planes and other variations. I wonder if there is some kind of subtext about the material and flight, with denim being a casual blue collar kind of material, very grounded, and flight being the opposite. Almost something about combining the casual every dayness with the magicality of flight or some such. Maybe I'm reading too much into a stream of consciousness piece but I do think there is gold in this here stream.
