Growing Up

Was BluSparrow on Ficlets

Do you recognize me?

Yes, I changed my hair.

Yes, these clothes are different.

My confidence is showing,

I wear no mask these days.

Standing alone.

Surrounded by people,

A familiar feeling.

Not supposed to feel alone,

Not supposed to want to leave.

Everyone tells her how to be.

And one day

She decided to not pretend anymore.

The real ones stayed,

The fakers, the directors left.

Surrounded by friends.

Full of support,

An unfamiliar feeling.

It was painful, it was beautiful.

She found herself,

She found the sun,

And it was real.

A story of realised hope. There are far too few of these in the world.

Welcome to the site and thank you for sharing such a positive story.

In the time I've been doing these 1,024 character stories (has it really been over 10 years since I first found Ficlets?), this is one of the most amazing things I've read. Really well done!
