Run it All Away

Was BluSparrow on Ficlets

Do you recognize me?

Yes, I changed my hair.

Yes, these clothes are different.

My confidence is showing,

I wear no mask these days.

Anxiety cripples

Even the strongest brain.

Anxiety says “go back in the house.

You are never going to be good enough.

What if you fall?

What if you pass out?”

What ifs an endless stream.

Here I am,

My feet pounding the ground

Trying to be louder than the thoughts.

I run faster, I run harder.

Pound, pound, pound my feet.

My heart thumping,

My face on fire,

Sweat dripping like rain.

All reminding me I am here.

The thoughts silence.

The harder, the faster I run.

Anxiety is crippling,

But it’ll never stop me.

From my feet hitting the pavement,

From my muscles moving,

From breathing the fresh air.

As-long-as my lungs work

I will never stop running.

Never stop running, never stop fighting, never stop breathing.

I agree with Jim. If it grounds you, run. If it makes you fight, run.
