The Stages of Revolution

To meet our unmet expectations

We will scrape off our old perceptions

to grow shiny new understanding

and expose our ideas to the elemental truths

Until they are weathered

and weary

and ready

for the new generation

Scrape off the old.. that resonates with me right now because letting go of the old is painful and a process and I think scrape is the best word. It's not like you soak in a tub and wash the past all away in some elegant candlelit bubble bath..

No, you don't. I'm going through my own process of scraping off the old right now, and let me tell ya', there's a lot of rust there!
