Hearts' Mending (4)
Inspiration hits with a flash, stories written on the go. A rumble of laughter and the tale is heard only in echoes. The wind blows me in a new direction. Whom shall I visit next?
But graduation seemed a new beginning:
A different major to enrich my mind,
Fresh challenges and contests for the winning,
A one-bedroom apartment (hard to find).
Ah! Living on my own, my shy moon waxed,
While self-esteem soon waned, a fleeting dream.
Within me, all felt wrong, far from relaxed;
And with no mate, self-loathing grew extreme.
To hate oneself's a habit hard to break
You feel that love's not something you deserve.
I thought I'd die alone, my soul forsake...
At twenty-five, my fate began to swerve.
I gained my first sweetheart, and bought a ring,
To catch this rare, once-in-a-lifetime thing.
