Backyard Bob Works Overtime

Abstract

I used to write on Ficly.

Captain's log, ship's day 8483

Our number is 88 now. Lisa gave birth this morning.

Backyard Bob got the power back on and I have made the decision to switch on the receiver. It is a considerable expenditure of power, but with much of the ship missing there are less systems to run.

Now we're working on controlling our motion. We are still spinning a bit, though it is more controlled than it was last week. To the best of our ability, we've put ourselves back on course toward Alpha Centauri. We had just enough fuel—the object we collided with apparently grazed us. However, figuring out how to get the scoop systems working again is a top priority. The scoop has been turned off for the time being as we need to figure out how to stop the venting that would otherwise take place due to the damaged systems.

If anyone can figure it out, though, it's Backyard Bob.
