GDPR - Data protection
Arms, legs, the usual.
I also seem to be running the site.
I may get around to writing some actual stories at some point.
There's a new law coming in in the UK (and Europe, I think) next week that means that we need to be even more careful with your data than before and not send you unsolicited e-mails.
As far as I can tell, we're compliant. We only send you e-mail when you initially sign up and for notification threads according to your user preferences. If you are getting too much mail from us, hit "edit profile" in your user dashboard and change the settings in there.

Yep, I've been getting bombarded with emails from everywhere about updates to privacy and user agreements in preparation for this law going into effect. Loads of fun, let me tell you.

@Jim--So we are getting unnecessary emails in preparation for a law banning unnecessary emails? Sounds about right.

That's the long and the short of it, yes. In preparation for this law, every website, company, and service organization that stores the personal data of its users must make certain their Terms of Service are in compliance with the laws. Which basically means a whole bunch of legal jargon gets updated, which these organizations are then obligated to notify their users about. But yes, your summary is effectively accurate. Gotta love the digital age.
