And we're all brown
Arms, legs, the usual.
I also seem to be running the site.
I may get around to writing some actual stories at some point.
With Jim's latest update, we now have a beautiful new look to the site, all bedecked in coffee-based colours.
If you aren't seeing brown, you may need to persuade your browser to refresh the CSS from the cache (just press Ctrl-F5 in most browsers).
The gorgeous new logo came from my good friends Eddie and Lucia at Create Signs, and is a long overdue replacement to my hand-drawn coffee mug. The underlying look and feel, much the same as always, is still the work of Ficlatté user dkscully, with my eternal gratitude for all the work she put in when the site was yet young.
If you noticed the server problems yesterday, they were resolved by the tireless Rob at Pepperfish.
With thanks to my fabulous team,

Woohoo! This is the update I've been most eagerly waiting on. I've been able to look at this design for several weeks now and really love it, so I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do. Take a look around and see what new little tweaks and features you can find hiding in various nooks and crannies of the site. I left a few surprises here and there, not many, but just enough, I hope, to make the place a little more interesting and exciting.
I should also mention that you should check out and edit your profile settings now. There a bunch of new toggles available to keep you notified when new sequels and prequels become available as well as challenge entries. You also have the option of adding a selection of social media usernames you might want to share with everyone else. If you do, you'll see some new icons on your author profile page.

I checkmarked EVERYTHING mwa-hahahahaha. Seriously though, thanks you two, for working on the site. It keeps me writing semi-regularly and I am always glad to see the people here. I see a spot for notes which I had missed a lot and that's exciting!

By the way, if anyone has any thoughts on little tweaks for the site here and there (e.g. I just made one a few minutes ago to space paragraphs apart just a skosh further because they look a little jammed up to my eye right now), now that we have this lovely Notes feature, you're more than welcome to send me a note and let me know. I've been tweaking and fiddling with things for weeks now, but something almost always gets past my attention, and I know (and HSAR and ethel) welcome the feedback.

I need to know how I can earn some COFFEE BEANS!
- #2382 Posted 9 months ago
I'm beyond pleased that everyone likes the fresh look to the site. dkscully did all the hard work of building the layout itself way back in the early days of the site. All I did was give it a fresh coat of pain. But I'm happy everyone loves it so much.
And @slapdashmonuments, I'll give you a bit to explore and see if you can figure out how to earn those coffee beans. It should be too difficult to figure out, but if you want a hint, just send me a note. ;-)

A fresh coat of pain? Sounds like a spin-off from the First Post stories.
- #2386 Posted 9 months ago
Oh, man, now there's an idea...
- #2387 Posted 9 months ago
Oh, haha, I didn't even catch that typo until just after I posted my response. That's awesome -- and it's still an interesting idea. :)

Yeah I got featured and I still don't have an elusive bean.
- #2391 Posted 9 months ago
Heh, follow the coffee bean trail. There's a couple of them floating around the site now, so find one and follow it back to the source. ;-)
- #2394 Posted 9 months ago
Figured it out ;)
- #2396 Posted 9 months ago
LOL. ;) It IS an elusive bean. I love the concept.
